Guide on Coffee Roasts

When it comes to coffee there are many options out there. Similar to how you would cook a steak to be rare, medium rare, or well-done. You can decide if you would like your coffee light, medium, medium-dark or dark. You are able to achieve your choice of coffee roast depending on the time it is on the roaster and how long the coffee bean is exposed to heat.

Today i will show you an easy guide on how to choose your roast:

Light Roast: light brown in color, there will be no oil on the surface of these beans because they are not roasted long enough. Light roast also tends to have a fruity smell.

Medium Roast: Medium brown in color, slightly sweeter than light roasts. This is the most preferred roast in the U.S.

Medium-Dark Roast: Rich, darker color with oily surface. Has a bittersweet after taste. if you prefer to add some milk or flavoring, this one is for you. Medium and dark roasts tend to maintain their taste better.

Dark Roast: Shiny black color with oily surface. The roasting process comes out on this roast the most and has a significantly amount of bitterness. Perfect for espresso drinks

My personal favorite is a dark roast with milk. The best way to drink this coffee is with a Croissant on the side. However, my daily go to choice is an Americano (espresso shots and water).
